In all of the music world, there is now very few things one could still call music. Everything one refers to as music now is either stupid guys who spit mindless, heartless words in to mircophones, barely sing because of the backup singers and their voices covered by electronics, and wear their pants way to low. The other refers to the princesses who got their recording contracts due to who they are, or who their daddy's are. There is also hardly any good rock music anymore because of the teenie bands. Yes,alas, the Attack of the Teenies is upon us all. People are also losing faith in bands because of how mainstream they are. One should never judge a band on whether they're "sellouts", or too "scene". You should like or hate a band because of the kind of music they make, not because of who they are. Even metal is going down the drain with all the mall-core bands. To now address Slipknot, yes they are a metal band. (To catagorize, a nu-metal band.) But unlike a lot of metal bands, they don't just make noise. The melodies and harmonies they come up with leave you with your heart thumping in time with the bass, and your mind trying to decipher the lyrics. Corey Taylor's voice, when he's not screaming, is fairly decent. (Then again, he didn't really come into the band to sing.) A band like Fall Out Boy, gets a bad rep because of Pete Wentz. You know, I don't really believe he's that big of an attention whore. I think the media only exploits the bad things, (nude pictures, suicide attempt, etc.) what about the charity work? No one ever reported that. Aside from that, people are judging Fall Out Boy on Pete's actions. DON'T! You'd be missing out on a very amazing band if you did that. Another thing, don't try to listen to the teenie bands and call yourself emo. (Teenie band: bands who's songs all sound they same, and who's songs have no meaning. All Time Low I'm looking at you.) Another thing, don't be scene, all scene is is an emo poser. And that, is my analysis of pop culture.
